Slums of Berverly Hills
Out Now
Synopsis
Set in 1976, The Slums of Beverly Hills is a bitingly funny "coming-of-age" journey told from the perspective of Jewish teenager Vivian Abromowitz (Natasha Lyonne). Vivian's family are so poor they are forced to move from one cheap flat to another before the rent is due, always staying within Beverly Hills to take advantage of the education system. Vivian's father (Alan Arkin) agrees to take in his brother Mickey's daughter Rita (Marisa Tomei) who has escaped from rehab, in exchange for a generous handout. It's down to Vivian to make sure her older cousin attends nursing school and avoids pills and booze! Meanwhile, Vivian has her own problems - she's inherited her mother's ample breasts, is interested in her new neighbour and desperately wants a family she's not embarrassed of!
